Passionate about driving social change, Mweene is dedicated to supporting the implementation of strategic program design and effective operations management. With a proven track record in various international settings, she has successfully coordinated impactful initiatives addressing critical issues in global health, water, and youth empowerment.
Mweene holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Development Studies and Public Administration from the University of Zambia, along with a Master of Arts Degree in Development Studies from the University of Lusaka. Her journey in the Human Rights field began with Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO), a British charity, where she worked on a youth project focused on increasing awareness of Adolescent Youth Sexual Reproductive Health Rights (AYSRH). Subsequently, she joined Living Water International (LWI) as a Programme Officer, supporting a programme aimed at improving human rights access to safe Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) for underserved communities.
Before joining the Centre for Sport and Human Rights where she currently serves as Operations Coordinator, Mweene served as the Zambia Programme and Operations Senior Coordinator for Global Health Corps (GHC). In this role, she contributed to the program and operations management of the GHC fellowship in Zambia and managed an in-country alumni program dedicated to improving the Zambian health system by advocating for health as a human right.
